The Miami Dolphins selected a trio of wide receivers during the 2026 NFL Draft to replace the likes of Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle who departed South Florida this offseason. The first man selected was Caleb Douglas out of Texas Tech — a 6’3”, 206 lb pass catcher who some thought was taken a bit early by Miami’s new general manager — Jon-Eric Sullivan. However, through nine training camp practices, Douglas has turned heads with his production thus far, and many are starting to think he could be
a major contributor for the Dolphins’ offense during his rookie year.
On Monday morning, Sullivan joined 104.3 WQAM radio to speak with the program’s host, Joe Rose, about various topics — including the excitement surrounding Miami’s rookie receiver.
“Caleb has a lot of natural gifts. That’s what attracted us to him during the draft process… He’s tall. He’s long. He can run. The thing that he can do from a tall, long athlete is he can bend. He can get in and out of breaks. He’s got extremely quick feet… He’s honing his craft. He’s getting better every day. He’s learning that this is the National Football League, not the Big 12… Some of the hard lessons he’s learned early on, he’s starting to reap the benefits of that. That’s what you’re seeing.”
If the Dolphins are to have success in 2026, new names will need to step up — especially in the revamped wide receiver room. If Sullivan found a diamond in the rough in Caleb Douglas, the organization will be able to retool much quicker than most expect.
