Last night’s Game 1 between the reigning champion Los Angeles Dodgers and the Milwaukee Brewers was a light-scoring affair but still had plenty of drama throughout the night. From the pitching duel we had early
on, to future Hall of Famer Freddie Freeman hitting a solo homer in the sixth to break the tie and open the scoring, to that wild and wacky play in center field by the Brewers that resulted in the first-ever postseason 8-6-2 double play, to LA closer Roki Sasaki nearly blowing the game in the final inning, it was an exciting way to get this series started.
Los Angeles held on for the win over Milwaukee and now have the Brew Crew right where they want them. They’ll have expensive pitching acquisition Yoshinobu Yamamoto taking to the bump tonight looking to continue his strong postseason career, during which he’s made six starts and posted a 3.38 ERA across almost 30 frames.
LA’s lineup for the critical Game 2 looks like this:
Milwaukee has to play with a bit more urgency tonight as they don’t want to drop their two home games before heading to Southern California for three straight contests. They’ll be turning to their longtime staff leader in Freddy Peralta to help even the series out and get to LA with a 1-1 series. Peralta, for as good as he’s been for Milwaukee in the regular season, as been much more mortal during the playoffs across his career, sporting a 4.23 ERA across eight appearances (five starts).
