Thiago Alcantara has returned to Barcelona to work with Hansi Flick’s coaching staff for a second spell, with the German boss eager to have him on board.
The 34-year-old spent time with the club last year but then had to return to England for bureaucratic reasons. This time his spell with the Catalans is expected to last a lot longer.
But what will Thiago be doing at Barca? The plan is that he will work mostly with the midfielders and young players on the training ground, according to Mundo Deportivo.
Thiago worked closely with Marc Casado in his previous stint and is expected to spend a lost of time with returning midfielder Marc Bernal.
The youngster is expected to passed fit soon after a year out and Thiago will be able to help reintegrate him back into the team after his serious injury – something he knows all about from his playing days.
Thiago is also expected to support and advise the youngest players and will do all of his work at the Ciutat Esportiva. It’s thought he won’t be part of Hansi Flick’s matchday plans or travel with the first team to games.
Barcelona are yet to announce officially Thiago’s return, but he has been spotted back at the club this week and appears to have got back to work already.
