With rain in the forecast for the next several hours in New York City, the Mets have officially postponed the retirement ceremony for Howie Rose until opening weekend of the 2027 season. The team will attempt to get their series finale with the Phillies in today, though, and will still give away their Howie-inspired promotional notebook and scorecard to the first 15,000 fans in attendance.
The Mets also provided the following information for fans who have tickets to the game this afternoon:
Acknowledging
that anticipated programming has shifted, fans currently holding a paid ticket for Sunday’s contest will receive a digital ticket voucher for a ticket comparable in price and location to a 2027 April-May home game at Citi Field (exclusions apply*), subject to availability. Fans can redeem and access digital vouchers in their My Mets Tickets account (accessed by clicking the Vouchers tab) beginning when 2027 single game tickets go on sale to the public.
If the Mets and Phillies do end up playing today, it would represent Rose’s final broadcast. If the game is postponed and made up tomorrow, he wouldn’t be in the booth given that the makeup game would fall on Yom Kippur. That would make his call of the Mets’ win over the Phillies yesterday the final one of his career, but here’s hoping he gets to call one more game at some point later today.
