Thanks to a Virginia loss, Ole Miss now has a new projected opponent in the College Football Playoff after rankings were released Tuesday.
The Rebels (9-1, 5-1 SEC) dropped one spot in the CFP rankings to No. 7 overall and projected to play No. 10 Texas in Oxford in the first round of the playoffs. Arch Manning vs. Ole Miss for a chance to play for a national title… I think that’d be talked about a little bit.
Oddsmakers are now putting Ole Miss and Lane Kiffin at even better chances of making the
CFP than last week, and all it did was blow out FCS opponent The Citadel, 49-0. Two SEC games against Florida and Mississippi State loom large, but it is likely the Rebels will be favored in both.
FanDuel Sportsbook released updated CFP odds for Ole Miss, and here are where things sit as of Tuesday night with the latest rankings.
- Ole Miss to make the CFP -3000
- Ole Miss to miss the CFP +1120
- Ole Miss to make the National Championship +750
- Ole Miss to make the Semi-Finals +210
So if you’re one of those Ole Miss fans who think this year is just too good to be true and something terrible is right around the corner, you’ve got a chance to make some good money right now. Slap a c-note or two down against Kiffin and get a little Christmas money.
There’s a lot of big things left for Ole Miss to play for in the next few weeks. It starts with Florida on Saturday night at 6 p.m. CT. The 1-0 mentality Kiffin and his staff have preached has never been more meaningful or significant.
