As I often do, I checked WWE Shop to see if they had new Tribal Chief merch. After all, I wouldn’t want to miss the new T-shirt celebrating his seventh world title win at WrestleMania 42.
Yes, I know Mania hasn’t happened yet, but trust me, it’s in the bag.
Sorry, Grandpa Punk.
However, what WWE Shop does have says something about this year’s card.
Various outlets have reported that Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton will headline Night 1 on April 18, leaving Night 2 to Roman Reigns and Chicago’s favorite elder
statesman.
WWE’s website has yet to confirm, as match previews conclude with, “WrestleMania 42 STREAMS LIVE Saturday, April 18, and Sunday, April 19, at 6 ET/3 PT at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.”
But to paraphrase Smokey from the movie Friday: “The merch be lettin’ you know.”
First up, Shop is selling collage plaques with a piece of match-used canvas from each night’s world title matches, and a spot to add a personalized name. The temporary images show a blurred pic of Rhodes and Orton for Night 1, as well as Reigns and Punk for Night 2.
Ipso facto: your main events on their respective evenings.
Oh, and before I forget: each plaque retails for the low, low price of $1,500, and apparently qualifies for free shipping. A steal!
Then there’s a limited-edition trading card of the incredible moment from Monday’s Raw, capturing Oba Femi standing over Brock Lesnar, pointing at the Mania sign. If WWE’s printing a card for it, they clearly have plans for Femi.
There’s also a new “RKO Everybody” tee with a bloodstain nod to Orton’s SmackDown beatdown of Rhodes. I don’t know what that says for their match other than Cody is likely to bleed again on Night 1.
What do you make of these items, dear readers? Are you as disappointed as I am that they don’t have new merch for the incoming World Champ, Roman Reigns?
Maybe they’re too busy knitting Punk-inspired afghans for old codgers like the soon-to-be ex-champ, a way to keep warm as they remember the good ol’ days.
