Barcelona manager Hansi Flick admits he was “very happy” to see Ronald Araujo score the winner for his team against Albacete in the Copa del Rey quarter-finals on Tuesday.
Lamine Yamal opened the scoring for Barcelona before Araujo struck to make it 2-0. Albacete did pull one back but couldn’t find an equaliser as the visitors progressed to the semi-finals.
Here’s what Flick had to say afterwards.
“I’m very happy for Araujo, it’s great that he scored,” he told reporters.
“The goal will help him gain
more confidence. It’s what we need and what he needs. We support him and help him.”
Flick also spoke about the match itself and admitted that his team had wasted too many chances once again.
“This match wasn’t easy at all, especially in the final minutes. We made it difficult for ourselves,” he added.
“Once again, we missed a huge number of chances. We’ve been missing a lot of opportunities in the last few matches and we have to improve.”
Barcelona now switch focus back to La Liga and a clash with Real Mallorca at the weekend.
