The 2026 offseason has been an extremely busy year for the Los Angeles Rams, but perhaps an even more taxing time for their fans. Between Matthew Stafford’s retirement plans, drafting Ty Simpson because of Stafford’s uncertain future, trading for Myles Garrett and Trent McDuffie, and wondering if Aaron Donald is going to come out of retirement, 2026 has been anything but boring for Rams fans.
However, has it been “too much” at times?

Matthew Stafford’s retirement
Stafford didn’t need much time to think about it after winning MVP last year, he immediately said that he’s returning for 2026. After that though?
He has no idea.
Stafford won’t commit to playing beyond 2026, even though he did sign a new contract this year. Because Stafford is going to go year-to-year, either playing one more season or maybe many more, the Rams felt they had to draft a quarterback in the first-round just in case.

Are you sick of updates on Ty Simpson? What about re-visiting the draft and the reaction to drafting Ty Simpson, are you more sick of hearing about what L.A. did in the draft?
The Rams picked Simpson at 13th overall, much earlier than analyst’s expectations, but what’s done is done.
Do you want to continue to hear about Simpson, the draft, his competition with Stetson Bennett for the backup role? Or are you just ready to move onto only the players who are expected to help in 2026 and leave Simpson talk for 2027?

Is Aaron Donald coming back?
Good things come to those who wait. Is the potential return of AD enough to justify almost-daily updates on everything that Donald posts on Instagram or text messages he sends to Pat McAfee?
Donald has not played since 2023 and it’s unclear what sort of football shape he will be in. I’m not talking about if he’s in good shape…Aaron Donald is always in perfect shape.
But how ready is he to play in a football game? It’s just a different sort of shape.
Donald won’t flat-out deny that he’s thinking of a return, which means that he’s thinking about a return. He doesn’t have to decide before camp, right? So the news may not happen for weeks.
