The New Level (formerly known as The New Day) have been feuding with Hangman Page and Brodido since they debuted by teaming with Swerve Strickland to win the AEW Trios titles at All In. The champs also won a rematch, but tensions between the group remained high around Page and Swerve’s complicated history. After Bandido retained the ROH World title in a match with Kofi at Grand Slam France, the sides decided to settle things in a 2-out-of-3 falls match at WrestleDream tonight (Oct. 17) in Orlando,
Florida.
Hangman and Swerve were at odds early, but Page also had to calm Big Brody King down as things broke down all over.
Their issues didn’t directly led to the first fall, which saw Kofi get a pin back from Ring of Honor’s World champion.
Wild scenes on the outside again, as Page flew into his frenemy and Bandido into everyone else.
While Page and Strickland kept at each other, Brodido teamed up to pin Austin Creed to even it up at one fall a piece. Hanger and Brody had a few run-ins before the last fall, but it came down to Bandido and Swerve. And why shouldn’t it after he did this to New Level…
Bandido hit the former AEW World champ with a 21-Plex, but Swerve immediately returned with Big Pressure. The ROH champ cradled him for the pin however, and The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly are again Trios champs.
In the aftermatch, Kofi and Creed handed Brodido their belts. There were even hugs! But Strickland didn’t offer Page the same respect…
Are The New Level done with Swerve and headed to babyfacedom? When does their Tag title chase starts? What’s next for the champs, and Page and Strickland’s story?
