After picking up a first place finish at the Oregon State Invitational a few weeks ago, and then falling just short of another first place finish at the Saint Mary’s Invitational last weekend, Oregon men’s golf rallied in the third round to take a 1st place victory lap yesterday at the The Preserve Golf Club Collegiate in Carmel, CA.
The men were tied for third place after the first two rounds on Monday, behind BYU and St. Mary’s.
BYU led in yesterday’s final round before the Ducks shot a lights-out, 6-under in the last four holes to take the win. Oregon finished the competition at 23-under to secure a two-stroke victory.
Afterwards, head coach Casey Martin said, “The Preserve is no joke. We faced a lot of adversity, and the course was very difficult today. It means a lot to get it done here. We had a really nice fall – coming into the season, there were a lot of uncertainties, but the guys keep showing Coach Quinney and me that they can play. I’ve seen some amazing shots these last few events, and I’m super stoked for the guys. They were incredibly happy to get a win, and as coaches, it’s really rewarding to see that joy.”
This concludes Oregon’s fall schedule, and you can’t complain about the performance and placement in these four tournaments. It bodes well for the 2027 portion of the season, which will get underway at the Amer Ari Intercollegiate in Kona, HI, on the first weekend of February.
