Arizona’s secondary will look very different in 2026, as all five main regular starters have either exhausted their eligibility or declared for the NFL Draft. And while there are several in-house candidates
for those starting jobs, adding talent on the back line is among the top transfer portal priorities for the Wildcats.
The UA picked up a key piece for the secondary on Wednesday with the commitment of cornerback Tyrese Boss, who had a standout 2025 season at Wyoming. He’ll have three years of eligibility remaining.
The 5-foot-11, 190-pound Boss started all 12 games for the Cowboys last season as a redshirt freshman, finishing with 39 tackles and five pass breakups. He logged 643 snaps and allowed only 26 receptions for 231 yards with no touchdowns on 45 targets, according to Pro Football Focus.
Boss will compete for a starting corner spot alongside returners Jay’Vion Cole, Johno Price and Dajon Hinton, assuming Hinton—who started in the Holiday Bowl—can come back from what is believed to be a serious injury suffered in the bowl game. Arizona also signed 4-star corner Xaier Hiler and are expected to add a couple more options from the portal.
Arizona is up to five additions from the NCAA transfer portal, two on defense.
