The Oklahoma City Thunder are in shock after losing former all-star Jalen Williams on Sunday Night. Williams landed gruesomely on a drive to the basket, with just over a minute remaining in a game against the Los Angeles Clippers Due to it’s graphic nature, we won’t be posting a clip of it here, but if you do seek it out, viewer discretion is advised. Medical personnel immediately attended to Williams, and 5 minutes later he was stretchered off the court while giving a double “thumbs up.”
The Thunder
would close out the game, beating the Clippers 108-101. The team expects a more formal diagnosis on Monday, but this is the kind of injury that could seriously alter Williams’ career moving forward. It was a tough first weekend on the injury front in the NBA. All-Stars Paulo Banchero of the Orlando Magic (severe ankle sprain), and Detroit’s Jalen Duren (hamstring) went down for multiple weeks. Last season’s Rookie of the Year, Cooper Flagg sufferered a mild left shoulder sprain on Friday night, and will be evaluated in a week.
Unfortunately for Jalen Williams, the severity of his injury will lead to a lengthy recovery period. We wish him the best in his journey back to the NBA hardwood.
