Last year fans had every reason to hope, and even expect, an appearance from the most electrifying man in sports and entertainment at WrestleMania 41. There isn’t much suspense about Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson showing up for WWE’s second straight Showcase of the Immortals in Las Vegas this year.
But Johnson is a member of the TKO Board of Directors, and there are definitely still some “Final Boss” plot strings dangling from The Rock’s 2024-2025 WWE run. CM Punk’s dropped his name while dissing the Anoa’i
family in his feud with Roman Reigns. Rock’s been fantasy booked as the bigger reveal/emergency pivot behind Pat McAfee’s involvement in Randy Orton and Cody Rhodes’ WrestleMania 42 program. Even without that, it’s WrestleMania. The only WWE event fans expect surprises at more than this one is Royal Rumble.
Plus, Rock was in Vegas this week! The live-action Moana (check out those locks!) is coming to theaters on July 10, 2026, and Maui was on hand with lead actress Catherine Lagaʻaia to promote the Disney flick.
But he won’t be sticking around for the show he and Stone Cold Steve Austin headlined three times, telling fans in attendance:
“Being a proud girl dad, three times. I have a daughter in her 20s, I have ten, I have eight…I have seven — my youngest is going to turn eight tomorrow. Happy birthday Tia, I know you’re going to see this. I love you. I’m coming home tonight.”
Of course, this being pro wrestling, Johnson saying he’s leaving town could be a sign he’s not, or that he’s coming back in time for one of this weekend’s main events. Guess we’ll just have to watch the shows to find out. Or you can read about them here at Cageside Seats!
Do you think there’s a chance The Rock shows up at WrestleMania 42 this weekend?
