Why did WWE choose Tiffany Stratton as the Money in the Bank contract winner over Roxanne Perez? Let’s see what today’s rumors have to say about it!
Top rumor of the day: Roxanne Perez is getting a WrestleMania world title push
Self Made Pro’s Ibou heard that WWE’s decision to have Tiffany Stratton win the Money in the Bank contract instead of Roxanne Perez is related to the longer term creative direction for both stars.
In Stratton’s case, she will eventually be turning heel, and WWE knew that putting the briefcase on her again would get heat on her among certain fans online.
In Roxanne’s case, the idea is that not winning the MITB briefcase helps build sympathy for a big babyface world title push that’s coming in time for a match against Liv Morgan next year at WrestleMania 43 in Saudi Arabia.
In other words, WWE made the Money in the Bank decision in part to get these hardcore fans mad at Stratton and on Roxanne’s side.
It might sound like a crazy rumor, but Roxanne did just defeat WWE Women’s Champion Chelsea Green on Raw, which seems to indicate that WWE sees big things for her soon.
The rest of the rumors!
- Self Made Pro’s Ibou mentioned that “a lot” of WWE wrestlers “were hesitant” to work with Oba Femi because it probably meant they would lose and get “sent down the card a bit.” This is related to why Bronson Reed put his foot on Oba on Raw, because he was just trying to get some heat knowing Oba was going over in their match at Money in the Bank.
- Ibou also claims that CM Punk likes Bron Breakker and told him that he will eventually put him over.
- WrestleVotes indicates that most WWE wrestlers trust Triple H and don’t blame him when there are contract issues or creative has nothing for them. They instead tend to point the finger at higher ups in TKO when things are going wrong, which ends up being a “nice shield” for Triple H.
- Per Fightful Select, former WWE star Shotzi Blackheart has signed a deal with TNA Wrestling.
- According to PW Insider, WWE is keeping a close eye on Leon Slater. It’s believed that his TNA contract is up by the end of 2026, and many people in WWE expect he will then land in NXT.
- Insider also says Steven Borden was spotted in Cleveland yesterday, which was the location of AEW’s 3.5 hour combo episode of Dynamite and Collision.
- On Tuesday, WWE filed to trademark the phrases “WWE: Survive the Ride” and “WWE: Deadman’s Tour.” To be clear, these trademarks are related to video games, and not the company’s decision to send its wrestlers and production team to Saudi Arabia for Crown Jewel.
