If you’ve watched any Reds games and Major League Baseball in general this spring, you’ve probably seen ABS at least once in a game.
Teams now have the ability to challenge a pitch if they think it’s a ball or a strike. They can challenge as many times as they would like, just as long as they don’t lose a challenge twice in nine innings. If the game goes to extra innings, each team gets one challenge per inning, regardless of whether they lose two in the first nine innings.
Now, Kentucky fans and SEC
fans will get to see ABS at the SEC Tournament in Hoover, Alabama later this month. The SEC is the first college conference to implement ABS.
It’s going to be very similar to Major League Baseball, but teams will have three challenges in the SEC Tournament.
With the SEC Tournament beginning on Tuesday, May 19th, the Bat Cats are looking to better position themselves in the SEC standings. Right now, Kentucky is 29-16 overall and 11-13 in the SEC. They currently sit in 11th place in the SEC with two series in conference play remaining. The Cats are at Florida this weekend and will host Arkansas next weekend.
