The Seattle Seahawks officially downgraded starting right guard Anthony Bradford to out on Saturday, ahead of their matchup with the Arizona Cardinals.
Bradford was limited throughout the week with a knee and hip injury and listed as questionable on the Seahawks’ Friday injury report. With Bradford out, Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald said the team will look to third-year guard Christian Haynes to fill his role up front. If Haynes gets the start, it will be his first since he was drafted by the Seahawks in the third round
of the 2024 NFL Draft.
This will be the first game that Bradford has not started for the Seahawks since the back-end of the 2024 season, when he hurt his ankle against the Cardinals.
In addition to downgrading Bradford, the Seahawks activated safety Rodney Thomas II from the practice squad. Thomas fills an obvious need at safety with Ty Okada ruled out and Nick Emmanwori listed as questionable for Sunday’s divisional game.
Thomas, a 2022 seventh-round pick by the Indianapolis Colts, signed to Seattle’s practice squad this offseason after four years with the Colts. The Yale grad starred in his first year in Indy, recording four interceptions and 52 tackles, but gradually fell out of favor and started zero games last year.
The Seahawks elevated Thomas in Week 1 against the New England Patriots, where he contributed four tackles and deflected the pass that became Nehemiah Pritchett’s interception in Seattle’s 13-10 win. Seattle may need another impressive outing from Thomas against a red-hot Cardinals team fresh off upsetting the Los Angeles Chargers last week.
