The 2025-26 NBA Season is winding to a close, and the Portland Trail Blazers have some important games down the stretch of the season. This week they went 2-1 with wins over the Los Angeles Clippers and New Orleans Pelicans and their lone loss coming in overtime against the Denver Nuggets on the road.
With the importance of these last few games so high, this week’s Blazer of the Week has really stepped up: Toumani Camara.
Camara averaged 23.3 points, 5.3 rebounds and 2.0 steals per game this week.
He did this all while making 17 of his 34 attempts from behind the arc, good for 50% shooting. Camara’s offensive impact was on full display this week as a release valve for Portland’s drivers. While he has struggled with efficiency at times this season, this week was a great look at what he can be for the Blazers when his shot is falling. His continued improvement has made him one of the NBA’s premier 3-and-D wings and an incredibly valuable player to this Portland squad.
However, despite the offensive outburst, Camara’s greater impact is felt on the other side of the ball. Camara is one of the best defenders in the league, and he draws the hardest defensive assignment almost every night. His ability to limit the offensive impact of stars makes Portland’s job on the defensive end that much easier. That aggression and tenacity can be a weakness in the wrong situation, as was the case late in the game against Denver when Camara fouled out in crunch time. However, it is more often a game-changer on the defensive end.
This week’s honorable mention is Jrue Holiday.
Holiday averaged 25.3 points, 7.3 assists and 5.7 rebounds per game this week. His role as the lead ball-handler and playmaker has opened up this Portland offense late in the season. His ability to both score and find the open man makes him difficult to defend, and he has cemented himself as Portland’s second option alongside Deni Avdija. Defensively, he fits the identity of this Portland squad with his on-ball defense at the point of attack.
