, Bayern Munich star Harry Kane is inching closer to resuming contract talks with the Bavarians.That is news that will be welcomed by many fans, but Kane also wants to continue onward in Bavaria to potentially take a run at playing for England at the 2030 World Cup:
There was a former Tottenham manager who once claimed that Harry Kane has an idea of coming back to England to compete for Alan Shearer’s goal record in the Premier League. I can concretely
say that this is not true. He’s not so keen on the goal record and would prefer to get titles with Bayern Munich. Kane has sent this clear signal to the club. I heard from a prominent source involved in the negotiations that Harry loves Bayern Munich, and Bayern Munich loves Harry Kane. So, a solution will be found. At the moment, he’s on holiday in the Caribbean.
Apparently, Kane was inspired by watching both Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo play in the recent World Cup and feels as if he could be in a good position to take another run at glory with the Three Lions:
It’s good for the English national team if the 33-year-old wants to play in the Euros in Great Britain and the Republic of Ireland. But he also saw Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo playing at the World Cup. They were still able to make an impact and score goals. This is why Kane has an idea in his head to play in the next World Cup in 2030, as he desperately wants this title. To do this, of course, you need to have a contract with a top club. It’s unlikely that he’d still have a key role with the England squad if he’s playing football in Saudi Arabia like Ronaldo! There were, of course, one or two players in the squad who perhaps defy this, but when you’re the captain of the English national team, you should play in a top league. Harry Kane shares that belief.
That goal to play in 2030 is part of the reason why Kane is reportedly seeking a long-term deal with Bayern Munich and not just a short-term extension:
This is why Kane is looking for a long-term contract. So, the question now is how long of a contract are we talking about? I heard that both sides are clear on the matter – there will be a contract on the table offering a minimum two-year extension (until 2029). His current terms run out in 2027. The next question is how much the Englishman wants to earn with his new contract. Both sides are also clear on this: he should earn about €25m gross per year. He won’t earn less on the new contract. But it’s easier to say that he can stay on this amount if he gets handed one more year on his contract, or perhaps Harry Kane will get more money if he’s agreeing to a shorter-term contract.
Direct negotiations will start when Harry Kane returns to Bayern Munich after the Asian tour. Bayern will be back on August 8, and then negotiations can officially begin.

Many fans will be onboard with a new deal for Kane, but some are already skeptical of what Kane’s game might look like in 2028 or 2029.
The dynamics of the deal might be debated, but Kane is not going to take any type of hit on his salary because he is too important to what Bayern Munich does offensively and also would leave a gaping hole in the attack that might be too difficult to fill.
Regardless, the partnership is mutually beneficial, but Kane clearly holds an advantage over the club in this matter and it seems highly unlucky that his salary goes anywhere, but up in this scenario.
