Brandin Podziemski and the Golden State Warriors have agreed to a rookie extension worth $110 million over five years, according to Shams Charania of ESPN.
Since entering the league in 2023, Podziemski has been a steadying force for Golden State whether starting or coming off the bench, averaging 11.6 points, 5.3 rebounds and 3.7 assists on 53.7% eFG%. He played all 82 games in the 2025-26 season, 43 of them being starts.
With the pricey veteran contracts for Draymond Green and Jimmy Butler set to
fall off the books, the Warriors are positioned to be buyers in the upcoming offseason. The new extension for Podziemski will have little effect on the resources Golden State has at its disposal next free agency; the first year of his contract starts at $18.9 million, while his cap hold would have been $17 million, per ESPN’s Bobby Marks.
Podziemski is the latest player from the 2023 NBA Draft to sign an extension. No news yet on whether the Blazers own 2023 draftee, Scoot Henderson, is any closer to a deal, or if talks are even ongoing.
While Golden State has struggled to supplement their aging core with young contributors, Podziemski was not one of their draft misses. Locking him up for years on a reasonable contract looks like a good bet for whichever future path the Warriors choose.
I don’t expect this deal to spark a whole lot of controversy. Prove me wrong, chat. Prove me wrong.
