Between two off-days and the Indianapolis Colts coming to town for a joint practice on Tuesday, the New England Patriots opted to go relatively easy on Day No. 13 of their 2026 training camp. Instead of the full pads that were commonplace last week, they wore shells and helmets during Monday’s session.

Standout of the day
WR Romeo Doubs: After a relatively quiet start to his first training camp as a Patriot,
Doubs has started hitting his stride. And if that’s what to be expected come the regular season, fans and New England quarterback Drake Maye alike should be pretty excited about what’s in store.
On Monday, Doubs caught a pair of touchdowns against the team’s No. 1 cornerback. He first beat Christian Gonzalez in an end-of-game situation by high-pointing a goal line fade just over the Pro Bowler, catching the 3-yard pass with 0:02 left on the clock. Later, he also caught a back-shoulder score against him. Gonzalez has a strong case as the Patriots’ top defender this summer — and maybe even best player overall — so Doubs beating him twice was nothing short of impressive.
Other performances of note
WR Efton Chism III: Have a day, Efton Chism! The sophomore wide receiver remains in a strong position to ultimately end up on the 53-man roster, especially when he is as productive as he was on Tuesday. Chism led the team with seven receptions during team drills, including one from starting QB Drake Maye. He continues to split his time between the first and second team, but continues to look good. His best play on Monday? A leaping 50-50 touchdown from Tommy DeVito against Marcellas Dial Jr.
OT Caleb Lomu: Even with Will Campbell and Morgan Moses available as full participants, the Patriots decided to change up their tackle group. This involved moving the backups: first-round rookie Caleb Lomu went to left tackle, his college position at Utah, while sophomore Marcus Bryant moved to the right. Both saw action with the second- as well as the first-stringers. Lomu in particular looked good, including a perfect 3-0 record in 1-on-1s..
CB Christian Gonzalez: Sometimes you just have to tip your hat; Romeo Doubs’ catches against Gonzalez were simply fantastic plays by the wideout. Other than those two, which could hardly have been better defended, the Patriots’ lock-down cornerback was just that: Gonzalez forced a pair of incompletion while covering A.J. Brown, and also broke up a pass intended for Kayshon Boutte during the two-minute segment.
CB Kindle Vildor: Carlton Davis returned to practice on Monday, but it was Vildor who earned the starting gig opposite Gonzalez. The offseason signing was able to build on his performance during Friday’s scrimmage, at one point running stride-for-stride with Romeo Doubs before a well-timed turnaround to break up a Drake Maye deep ball. The race for the CB5 spots continues to evolve, with Vildor seemingly in the process of moving ahead in the competition now.
After 13 days working by themselves, the Patriots will welcome the Colts to Gillette Stadium on Tuesday. Their joint session on Tuesday is scheduled to begin at 10:15 a.m. ET and will be open and free to attend for fans.
