Julian Alvarez was quizzed on his future again on Tuesday after featuring in Argentina’s 3-2 win over Egypt in the last 16 of World Cup 2026.
The defending champions looked to be heading out but a late comeback saw Lionel Scaloni’s side oust the Pharoahs and book a quarter-final tie against Switzerland or Colombia.
Speaking afterwards, Alvarez was asked if he had changed his mind about his future at Atletico and offered up the following response.
“I’m thinking about the quarterfinals now. Very important
things are coming up so let’s focus on that,” he told reporters.
Barcelona have made it clear that they want to sign Alvarez this summer, with club president Joan Laporta saying an offer has already been made to Atletico Madrid.
The Catalans are expected to make another attempt to land Alvarez which is expected shortly, particularly as end of the World Cup is heading into view with the final set for July 19th.
