Iowa State volleyball traveled to Orleans Arena in Las Vegas to compete in the Lucky Aces Volleyball Invitational versus UCLA, Hawai’i and Texas A&M – Corpus Christi over the weekend. The Cyclones went 1-2 at the tournament, falling to UCLA 3-0 and Hawai’i 3-2. ISU defeated the Islanders 3-0.
On Friday, Iowa State was swept by UCLA in three sets (20-25, 22-25, 15-25). Libero Rachel Van Gorp joined her late mother – Janice Ninemire – in the 1,000 digs club with 11 in the match against the Bruins.

Ti’a led the Cyclones with 10 kills, Pam McCune followed with five kills. Ava Martin led ISU with 15 assists and Ella Florez recorded 11 assists.
On Saturday, Iowa State took on the Rainbow Waihne and battled in a five-set match, but ultimately fell to Hawai’i 3-2, 25-20, 15-25, 25-11, 19-25, 15-11.
Nayeli Gonzalez had a match high 19 kills and Ti’a finished with 15 kills. Van Gorp tallied 18 digs. Macie Lupkes had nine blocks in the match.
On Sunday, ISU swept TAMU-CC (25-17, 25-17, 25-19).
McCune recorded a hitting percentage of .733, tied for seventh best in program history. Her name appears on the Top 10 list twice.
McCune and Gonzalez led the way with 12 kills, each. Van Gorp recorded 22 digs. First-year middle blocker Nikita Clausen added 11 kills and 12 blocks for the Zags.
Conference play is next up for the Cyclones, as they head to Lubbock Friday. First serve is scheduled for 6 p.m.
