When two former world champions form a team, they receive the benefit of jumping the line quickly. Kris Statlander and Hikaru Shida are already granted a shot at the AEW Women’s World Tag Team Championship. However, the big question still remains. Can Shida be trusted?
There’s good reason to question if Shida will turn on Statlander in due time. The Shining Samurai contemplated a sneak attack a few weeks back. It’s a good thing she showed restraint, because they now have a chance to win gold.
Shida even polled the people on X, and the response was overwhelmingly positive.
I think it’s safe to say that Mina Shirakawa and Harley Cameron are in the ‘not trust Shida’ category. They confronted her during Collision (Apr. 25, 2026). The conversation turned to Shida proving that Harley is not on their level by winning the titles from Divine Dominion. Statlander wanted no part of this bickering as Shida, Mina, and Harley jabbered in Japanese.
Statlander had business of her own to handle. StatDaddy was in action against Becca, and she countered a submission into the Saturday Night Fever finisher for victory.
Statlander ignored Shida’s attempts to celebrate. Shida played it off anyway with a happy expression.
Megan Bayne and Lena Kross chimed in on the matter. They are not concerned about the challenge. In fact, Divine Dominion view it as the fate of Shida and Statlander to be destroyed by their hands.
AEW made the match official. Divine Dominion will defend the tag titles against Statlander and Shida on the April 29 episode of Dynamite.
How long do you think the tag team between Kris Statlander and Hikaru Shida lasts? Do you trust Shida?
