Lennart Karl burst onto the scene this year under Vincent Kompany and has quickly become one of the most discussed young talents in the sport at the moment. Despite the goals and assists that have made him a household name already, it has been his two-way prowess which has been discussed over the recent weeks as Karl has delivered a far more complete performance in recent weeks.
“Scoring goals, providing assists, performing well, contributing defensively. The latter is really important; I’ve internalized
that more and more as a professional player. I neglected it too much back in my youth,” Karl told Kicker when asked on how he can contribute this season to Bayern Munich, as captured via @iMiaSanMia.
The German wonderkid would also go on to credit Vincent Kompany for a major reason on why he is more defensively aware. The results are clear as Karl has made leaps of progress in that regard in the past months and his defensive efforts proved critical for Germany in the March friendlies where his backtracking was on full display.
Something that Julian Nagelsmann surely took notice of as well and the Bayern Munich talent might be on his way to his first-ever World Cup this summer in North America. A Champions League title wouldn’t hurt his odds either.
