What is the story about?
Well,
that news coming out of the south side of Chicago is certainly news that I don’t think anyone predicted. It feels like there are two ways to think of the Murakami news. First is that if he is a success, he is only on a two-year deal and can score bigger bucks in another negotiation. The flip is that if he is a bust, he can head back to Japan having made life changing money. It’s kind of a win-win for him.
On to the links.
Phillies news:
- Aidan Miller seems poised to make the leap the majors this year, but will his final destination be the shortstop he knows or a different position?
- The Phillies have been top dog in the division for two years now, but is there another team gearing back up to take it from them?
MLB news:
- Munetaka Murakami has made a decision and it is to (shockingly) join the White Sox on a two-year deal worth $34 million.
- Another big trade going down late last night as the Cardinals continued dumping players to Boston, this time Willson Contreras moving to Beantown.
- The Pirates added a big bat in Brandon Lowe this weekend, but are still in the market to continue adding to their offense.
- Add the Blue Jays to a growing list of teams that are interested in bringing Alex Bregman into their roster ($). Toronto flexing that sweet World Series money.
