The Buffalo Bills have had a very busy injury report this week, which isn’t an ideal situation to be in with a short week to prepare for their Week 12 road game against the Houston Texans. With a practice
plan that involved only walkthroughs the last three days, there was a lot of interest in which players would be given the green light for Thursday Night Football. Designations during walkthrough sessions are meant to reveal how a player would be listed if the team held a full practice session.
Ahead of Wednesday’s walkthrough, head coach Sean McDermott revealed that tight end Dalton Kincaid, plus wide receivers Curtis Samuel and Mecole Hardman Jr. won’t suit up when Buffalo takes on Houston to open Week 12 under the lights of Thursday Night Football. Kincaid’s absence was a forgone conclusion after injuring his hamstring against the Miami Dolphins, while Samuel and the newly signed Hardman (who left early versus Tampa Bay Buccaneers) were banged up in action last Sunday.
On a short week, Hardman and Samuel will relinquish kickoff duties to running backs Ty Johnson and Ray Davis, but keep an eye out to see if the Bills call up return specialist Brandon Codrington — who was just signed back to the team’s practice squad.
The inactives may also allow wide receiver Keon Coleman the opportunity to redeem himself quickly and start this week following a disciplinary benching for Week 11. Buffalo’ defensive unit is as healthy as it’s been since the loss of defensive tackle Ed Oliver and will face Houston backup quarterback Davis Mills with C.J. Stroud yet unable to clear concussion protocol.
