In a recent interview with Sky Sports (as captured by X account @iMiaSanMia), current Fulham and former Germany goalkeeper Bernd Leno touted Bayern Munich goalkeeper Jonas Urbig as a future starter for the German national football team.
“If Jonas Urbig gets his chance at Bayern and takes it, then he has by far the best chance of shaping an era with the national team,” Leno said. “Bayern is one of the best clubs in the whole world, and of course by far the best club in Germany. If he establishes himself
there, then for me there is no doubt that he will be the one to succeed Manu in the national team.”
Manuel Neuer, the longstanding starting goalkeeper for Germany, has since retired from international duty while his time at Bayern is also nearing its end. Urbig is seen as the heir to Neuer and possibly the national team if he consistently puts in solid shifts.
