good morning everyone –
By now the clocks have turned both in the UK and the US (except for Hawaii and most of Arizona). And while it was nice to watch Tottenham Hotspur football at 1.30pm ET in the US on Saturday, and as strange as it was to see a 4pm ET kickoff on Saturday, we now return to programming.
But today’s hoddle is more about a PSA for all you folks. It’s brighter earlier now, that’s great! The sun rose at 6.35am in Washington DC on Sunday, but was also supposed to set by 5.07pm. That’s
early.
So, it’s getting dark earlier. Here’s a select list of what time the sun will set Tuesday:
- London, 4.32pm
- Carlisle, 4.31pm (enjoy that extra minute of sunshine, you Londoners)
- Brighton, somewhere between 4.32pm and 4.34pm
- New York City, 4.50pm
- Washington DC, 5.05pm (we’re spoiled)
- Milwaukee, 4.40pm
- Los Angeles, 4.58pm
With the days getting shorter and the nights getting longer, now’s a good reminder to scrounge up your LED lights and hi-vis gear from the shed because we’re interested in safety here.
For your hoddler-in-chief, this minutes he’ll be bringing out his LED-lit armband and the LED lights he wears around his torso. The latter are really unpleasant to wear, but they get the job done. And I’d rather be slightly uncomfortable during a run than unsafe.
This also means I’ll be putting away my black running apparel (not that I had much of it anyways). You very much want to be seen by motorists, even if that means you have to dress a little obnoxiously. And I’m taking no chances in the District of Columbia, to be frank.
So grab your lights and enjoy your extended night hours.
