Utah State is officially the seventh Mountain West bowl team, which is great for the conference. I flipped some things around in the middle and bottom of my list. I think UNLV is playing well enough to be attractive to the Rate Bowl this year, which moves New Mexico back to the New Mexico Bowl. This bumps Fresno State to the Potato, as it sounds like Boise State does not want to stay home this bowl season. Instead, I have Utah State going to Arizona and I’m going to guess that ESPN will find an interesting matchup for the Broncos in some other bowl game.

The Aggies became the 7th bowl-eligible team. The conference runs through San Diego State. If the Aztecs win and get the LA Bowl. The other bowls will take the closest home teams. No playoff teams.

Well, I was wrong about the Aggies. Their impressive road win over Fresno State locks them into a bowl game, but I don’t think it will end up being any of the MWC-affiliated ones, as there are teams that make a great deal more sense for those bowls. As for Wyoming….you guys lost at home to Nevada. That should be grounds for automatic bowl elimination, regardless of record. I suppose just having 7 losses now should do the trick.

I really like Utah State going to the Frisco Bowl. Getting seven bowl teams is huge for the conference in the last season as we know it.

I know for a fact that New Mexico will be invited to the New Mexico Bowl, no secret there, but speaking to my source, they are waiting to see how all this shakes out with the potential MWC Championship game and a possible better invite.
