Paris Saint-Germain’s players are well-aware of exactly what they will be walking into against Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena — and they would not have it any other way.
“The first leg was crazy. We play football for matches like this. Both teams showed one of the best Champions League performances: the commitment, the intensity, the goals… it was simply exceptional. We expect the same thing tomorrow, the same match, or even more. We’re ready, we’re going to try to reach the final,” said PSG’s
Warren Zaïre-Emery. “We’re going to try to impose our style of play, press them like we do in every match, play as much as possible in their half, trying to win back as many balls as possible and create chances. This team is built to attack and have possession.
“It will be the same match, with the same intensity, maybe even more. It will be up to us to dictate the pace, not to overdo it, and to try and calm things down when we have to. At this stage of the season, if you set too fast a pace, things can go very quickly in either direction.”
Zaïre-Emery, who will fill in for injured right-back Achraf Hakimi, will have a tough assignment in this match as he will attempt to defend Bayern Munich left-wing Luis Díaz.
“When you face a player who can do everything, like their front three, it’s always difficult to defend. We played well defensively, but we still conceded four goals. When the attackers are at that level, there’s no room for error. Regarding Luis Díaz, I’ll do my best, and I’ll have the support of my teammates, as always,” Zaïre-Emery stated.
That will be just one of several fascinating matchups for fans to watch. The loss of Hakimi should be felt in a big way…can Díaz take advantage of it?
