The controversy surrounding the refereeing continues to be the talking point after Bayern Munich’s 2-2 draw against Hamburger SV in Matchday 20 of the Bundesliga. The match saw some questionable decisions by referee Harm Osmers, and this time it was Bayern goalkeeper and captain Manuel Neur who expressed his concerns.
“If the referee is a topic of conversation after the game, it’s never a good sign,” remarked Neuer (Bild via @iMiaSanMia). “I think it’s always best if the referee isn’t brought up.
Because then you know he had the game under control. But if you’re asked about him so often, it doesn’t speak well for him.” The captain’s statements constrast with the more emotional response shown by coaching staff and striker Harry Kane, who confronted the referee after the final whistle.
Bayern will try to bounce back from this situation quickly, but Neuer’s words hint that the talk about the lackluster officiating in the Bundesliga is far from over
