Morning lads,
I’m in a good mood after the Leeds game, so I thought I’d write in.
I thought the game was very positive. Leeds, who have been a really impressive team for about a year now, with slick attackers, came unstuck against a Sunderland side that’s been uncharacteristically generous with goals so far this season. That ticked a big box for me, as it’s reminded everyone that they still know what they’re doing.
We have that same desire and grit from last season and, ultimately, they’re listening.
Nordi after Bournemouth, and O’Nien yesterday, acknowledged probably every point I’ve seen raised online or heard in the ground when speaking after the games. Bar the Hume/Meunier right-wing thing, I really like it personally.
Jacob Horsfall did a video on it which is very good, and that very talented manager we have knows what he’s doing. He also has enough credit in the bank to take him to the summer for me. A couple of poor performances don’t make a dent in his inspired handling of the play-offs, let alone the great time we had last season.
The negativity is far too much.
I’d also like to say Luke O’Nien has been superb in the last two games, up for man of the match in both, along with Angulo, and the criticism he gets is pathetic.
There was one point where the ball held up, and he was leaving it for the keeper. He very nearly shit the bed (we’ve all got a nightmare story about the weather in football), but he held off Calvert-Lewin and recovered well.
He’s our fifth-choice centre-half behind Mukiele, Ballard, Alderete and Danso, in whatever order.
He’s putting in solid shifts, really admirable performances when called upon, and is the most positive character we have in the side. All the players love him too, and the majority of fans, I’d say.
How you can pick fault with that is mind-blowing.
Going on to Brentford, however, it’s a rare time I can say I’m not bothered about the result.
I couldn’t care less about the League Cup. The only time the winners celebrated it was the Mags last year, and the extra games would probably be a hindrance.
So, just like yesterday, I’d like to see us put in a good performance to take into the next game.
Jake Taylor
