Let’s get into it!
Scranton 4, Lehigh Valley 3
I know that players don’t get happy when other players get hurt. That would be the definition of being a bad teammate. However, the injury to Adolis Garcia does potentially open a door for others and while Gabriel Rincones, Jr. gets the first crack at the job, there is another in Lehigh Valley that could take advantage as well. Bryan de la Cruz had three hits last night, including a two run home run in the IronPigs loss. He may not be the best option for the team in the coming
weeks, but if he can perk up a bit, he might be able to get something else should Justin Crawford continue to struggle.
Reading 3, Portland 2
Andy Seminaris, ladies and gentleman. He’s not big on the team’s pitching prospect list, but any time someone in the organization goes eight innings, allowed only one run and strikes out 10, that is worth attention.
On offense, the Fightin’ Phils got two home runs on the night, a two-run shot from Bryson Ware and a solo home run from Raylin Heredia. Caleb Ricketts had two hits, one being a double, which was enough for Seminaris to shut down the Sea Dogs. Of note, Wei Hui Pan had his debut with Reading, had a rocky inning – three hits and one run allowed – but was able to secure the save.
Jersey Shore 7, Hudson Valley 4
The BlueClaws also saw some offense from their end. A solo home run from Tyler Pettorini was the big blow, but other hits from Luke Davis (RBI triple) and Kodey Shojinaga (two RBI) gave Jersey Shore the win. Reese Dutton had a good start on the mound, going six innings and only giving up one run on two hits, striking out six and walking only one.
Clearwater 2, Lakeland 1
A pitching duel, the Threshers got five shutout innings from Brad Pacheco, three solid innings in relief from Micah Ottenbreit and a save from Marty Geir in which he struck out the side to preserve the win. Griffin Burkholder and Alirio Ferrebus each had a hit on offense, though Robert Phelps led the offense with two hits and a run scored.
