Last Year’s Raleigh Relays
On the opening day of the 2025 meet, Drew Rogers delivered a standout performance, breaking the school record and capturing the win in the men’s 10,000m, with Tyler Freiner and Austin Popplewell completing a strong 1-2-3 finish for the team. Joshua Allison added to the momentum with a top-five mark in program history in the men’s 3,000m steeplechase, while Jamie Mora did the same in the 5,000m. Elijah Limo also made his mark in the steeplechase, placing 24th while setting a new school record.
Their momentum carried into Friday, as Rahel Broemmel set a new school record in the women’s 5,000m. Monica Wanjiku followed with an impressive third-place finish in the 10,000m, which also marked a school record. Rounding out the day, Kobi Walker posted a career-best time in the women’s 5,000m for the Tigers.
Yellow Jacket Invitational Highs
Missouri opened the Yellow Jacket Invitational on Friday, March 20, with a strong showing highlighted by senior Skylar Ciccolini. She won the women’s javelin with a personal-best throw of 57.45m.
The Tigers continued to dominate the javelin standings, placing four athletes including Valentina Barrios in the top-five, with other highlights in the women’s hammer throw led by Petra Gombas with all five competitors finishing inside the top-10.
Out on the track, Missouri saw several standout performances, including personal bests from Brianna Lee in the women’s 1,500m and strong top-10 finishes from three athletes in the men’s 1,500m.
“Having a smaller squad, and having more one-on-one time with each of the student athletes has really made me appreciate them a lot more,” assistant coach Jordan Adreassen said. “You know, get to know them a little bit more, having that closeness and that time.”
During the second day of events, Marlena Tresnjo won the women’s high jump, Anna Vedral placed second in the women’s pole vault and Dillon Leacock claimed a top-10 performance in the men’s 400m hurdles.
Other notable athletes are Ames Burton, who claimed fourth in the women’s discus, and Robert Hines, who took seventh place in the men’s 200m. Alongside them, Brianna Utecht claimed a personal best in the women’s 800m.
Raleigh Relays Expectations
With momentum from both the Raleigh Relays last season and a strong opening at the Yellow Jacket Invitational, Missouri will enter this week on a high across multiple event groups.
The distance squad will likely be a major focal point again, especially given last year’s record-breaking performances in the 5,000m and 10,000m. In the field events, the Tigers have shown clear strength, particularly in javelin and hammer throw, so there will be hopes for multiple top-five finishes and another win or two are well within reach.
