Kaue Fernandes hates legs. He absolutely hates them.
On Saturday, Fernandes took on short-notice opponent Harry Hardwick in a prelim bout at UFC Paris, taking a first-round stoppage victory after chopping the legs out from under Hardwick.
Fernandes is known for his nasty leg kicks and they were on full display against Hardwick as he chewed up Hardwick’s lead leg with a barrage of calf kicks. Hardwick tried to switch stances to save himself, but Fernandes simply worked over the other leg as well, leaving
the British fighter with few options other than to try and gut it out. That was ultimately no option at all and after a particularly sharp leg kick sent Hardwick crashing to the canvas, he was unable to get up and referee Herb Dean ended the bout.
Per the broadcast, it was the 19th leg kick finish in UFC history, and the damage to Hardwick was so bad that afterward, he left the octagon in a wheelchair, which UFC commentator Michael Bisping noted may have been a first.
