Lamine Yamal has readily admitted he expects to move from his right wing role to a central position at some point in the future but it’s not expected to happen any time soon.
Hansi Flick has experimented with Yamal through the middle, notably last season against Real Betis, but such a move is not currently in his plans, according to El Pais.
The coaching staff at Barcelona prefer to use Yamal on the right flank for the time being in a position where he can showcase his brilliant skills.
The arrivals
of Anthony Gordon and Karim Adeyemi, along with the presence of Raphinha in attack, is another reason why Barcelona are keen to keep Yamal out wide.
Barcelona feel the physical presence of the other three attackers can help open up spaces for Yamal to exploit with his dribbling, speed and exceptional talent.
Barcelona are also still hoping to sign Julian Alvarez this summer to boost their attack further, with the Argentina international set to take over at No. 9 if he does arrive from Atletico.
