Shanahan will remain the 49ers head coach for the long term after signing an extension this offseason.
The previously unreported move was revealed by Tom Pelissero of The Ringer and Netflix on Friday following the 49ers’ win over the Los Angeles Rams in Melbourne.
Shanahan, per Pelissero, was previously believed to be signed through 2027. Pelissero did not confirm the length of his new deal, but it will take him well beyond a decade as San Francisco’s head coach.
