The Washington Wizards upset the Memphis Grizzlies on Saturday night with a 130-122 win
The Wizards took advantage of a monster third quarter to get a win that most didn’t expect. Washington shot 62.5 percent from the field with Kyshawn George scoring 13 of his 28 points in that period alone.
Washington also took advantage of a 35-27 fourth quarter where George scored another 11 points get the Wizards across the finish line and their fifth win. CJ McCollum also added 28 points for Washington in the win.
For Memphis, Santi Aldama led with 37 points to lead all scorers.
Washington’s biggest point in this win wasn’t the fact that they won. They were losing by 20 points at one point in the second quarter. Then they came back and won anyway. We have seen a number of games this season where the Wizards were ahead for much of the contest but lost anyway. So it was good to see the script get flipped for a change during another rebuilding season.
The Wizards will head back home tomorrow to host the San Antonio Spurs just a few days after playing them on the rod. Tip off is at 7 p.m. ET. See you then.
