FORT SNELLING, Minn. — Iowa State’s cross country teams traveled north on Friday to compete in the 40th annual Roy Griak Invitational. The men’s cross-country team captured first place in the Jo Rider College 8k with 24 team points, and the women’s team finished in seventh place in the Suzy Wilson College 6k with 193 points.
Men
In the Jo Rider College 8k, Rodgers Kiplimo led Iowa State with a second-place overall finish in 23:48.4. Iowa State runners swept the next three individual positions, as Dylan
Maloney placed third in 23:56.2, Devan Kipyego finished fourth in 23:56.3 and Mikah Peters took fifth in 23:59.8.
Matthew Shelly completed the top five scorers for Iowa State by taking 10th place in 24:12.5. Additional individual finishers for Iowa State included Carson Driemeier in 21st place (24:23.3), Kipruto Koech in 39th place (24:52.5), and Nathan Pestka in 50th place (25:05.7).

In the Suzy Wilson College 6k, Sophia Keditukei was the top finisher for Iowa State, placing 15th overall in 20:34.3. Olivia Verde finished 39th in 21:12.0, followed by Claire White in 52nd place in 21:23.0. Sheridan Wheeler placed 57th in 21:28.9 and Ruby Hughes rounded out the scoring lineup in 67th place in 21:37.7.
