We’ve learned more about the game-day benching of Kansas City Chiefs left guard Kingsley Suamataia in favor of backup Mike Caliendo this week. On Monday, head coach Andy Reid said it wasn’t punishment-related, though that doesn’t clarify the situation.
On Tuesday, we got an embraceful message from Suamataia on social media, but one that still leaves Chiefs Kingdom with more questions than answers.

Kingsley Suamataia shares social-media post after second benching: ‘Playing my part’ | The Kansas City Star
“PLAYING MY PART. #godsplan #usos #foe,” Suamataia wrote in a message that was liked by Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and tight end Travis Kelce.
There are six photos with the post. The first has these words: “Win in silence and let them think you losing.” The last had this: “Only fools are jealous of their own friends. I pray all of mine succeed.”
Teammate Trey Smith shared the second message on his Instagram story.
Which NFL teams should be buyers, sellers or stand pat at the trade deadline? | The Athletic
Kansas City Chiefs: Buyers
Chiefs general manager Brett Veach usually does something similar each year around the trade deadline: acquire a single player at a position of need for a mid-round pick. In doing so, the team also resists other temptations to make a costly “go for it” move that would mortgage significant draft capital. Given that the Chiefs are a top AFC contender again, that formula would seem to make sense again this season. More than anything, Kansas City should be in the market for a rental receiver, given the team’s injuries and inconsistencies at the position in 2026. — Jesse Newell

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, former Chiefs CB Nazeeh Johnson has completed his six-game PED suspension. He has also been cleared to return to football after ankle surgery in August.
Johnson had ankle surgery in August and served his six-game suspension while a free agent. He signed with the Tennessee Titans this offseason before he was suspended and suffered the ankle injury in late August.

The Chiefs have multiple issues to fix, and the trade deadline must be the time to fix them
In a vacuum, the Chiefs’ loss to the Broncos was just that: one loss. Yes, it was a disappointing one, given the chance to put a vice grip on the division, but it’s just one loss.
In the big picture, this game revealed multiple significant issues — issues that will cost the Chiefs when a loss isn’t just a game lost, but a season lost.
These are the three things I’m quite worried about:
Andy Reid’s continued game mismanagement
Short-yardage issues
Absolutely no downfield presence
Jets vs. Chiefs prediction: Odds, expert picks, QB matchup, injury update, betting trends, and stats | NBC Sports
Historically, the matchup has produced some memorable games. The most recent meeting was a few years ago on October 1, 2023, when Kansas City escaped MetLife Stadium with a 23-20 win. The Chiefs raced ahead 17-0 in the first quarter before the Jets rallied to tie the game at 20 behind Zach Wilson, who completed 28 of 39 passes for 245 yards and two touchdowns.

Bills release C.J. Gardner-Johnson after one-game spitting suspension | ESPN
Garrett was the prize of the Rams’ offseason, when they traded Pro Bowl outside linebacker Jared Verse as well as first-, second- and third-round draft picks to the Cleveland Browns to land the two-time Defensive Player of the Year. Fresh off breaking the NFL’s single-season record with 23 sacks, Garrett arrived to the Rams and helped entice Aaron Donald to end his two-year retirement and return to play alongside him.
The two have yet to share the line together in a game, as Donald missed the season opener while ramping up. That time is coming soon. When it does, the Rams will become the first team in NFL history to have two players with 100 career sacks and a 20-sack season on the same defensive line.
New Cowboys Trade Rumors Reveal Plans for George Pickens Ahead of NFL Deadline | Bleacher Report
The Dallas Cowboys are 3-5 and look nothing like a legitimate contender. George Pickens is playing on the franchise tag and may go elsewhere during the upcoming offseason.
Logic dictates there could be a trade in the making before the NFL’s Nov. 10 deadline.
But that doesn’t seem to be the case.
“I was told there’s nothing here and that it is not happening,” NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported during an appearance on Tuesday’s episode of The Pat McAfee Show. “… As of right now, literally nothing there. … The way the Cowboys’ division is, it is wide open. I would be surprised to see them trading a playmaker.”
Week 9 NFL MVP tracker: Can Caleb Williams join Joe Montana in making history? | NFL.com
History says he’s a long shot simply because of those missed games.
In the post NFL-AFL merger era (since 1970) in non-strike-shortened seasons, only one player has missed three games and still won the NFL MVP award: Joe Montana in 1989. “Joe Cool” battled through various injuries that season, missing Weeks 6, 8, and 15, and portions of others.
Every single other MVP missed two or fewer tilts. Most missed zero.

Numbers Never Lie: 5 Chiefs stats to know from loss to Broncos
A week after running just 12 plays from under center, a season-low mark, the Chiefs’ offense re-established its identity in Denver and tied the season-high number of 28 plays run from under center; the team matched it against the Miami Dolphins in Week 3.
Patrick Mahomes also attempted the most passes from under center in any game this season, dropping back 14 times.
However, Kansas City averaged just 4.5 yards per play from under center, the second-lowest rate of the year behind the poor showing in Seattle.
It may not have been the most efficient game, but the offense looked much better than it did in Seattle, and getting back to what worked through the first five games of the year felt like a big factor in that.
