Deron Rippey Jr. is the latest Kentucky recruit to make his way to Lexington. The New Jersey native arrived on campus this week and took his official visit to the University of Kentucky.
The 5-star guard
spent a couple of days with the Wildcats coaching staff, getting an up-close look at one of the most historic programs in college basketball.
That included Tuesday’s Kentucky Basketball Pro Day, where Rippey was seen taking shots with Jasper Johnson after the event ended, as captured by Kai McClelland.
Rippey, who is one of the most talented players in the 2026 class, also gave a recent update on his recruitment to Rivals reporter Jamie Shaw. This is what Rippey had to say about Kentucky:
“They’ve been very definitely one of the more consistent schools. You know, reaching out to me almost every day. They’ve been at a lot of events this year, valuing my game and giving me feedback. And I’m just interested to see what a top-tier blue blood, and a program with a history of NBA guards, what it looks like down there.”
The Blair Academy guard said he expects to trim his list of schools and make a decision sometime during the college basketball regular season.
“I’ll probably narrow things down after I finish all my visits,” Rippey said. “And then with my commitment, I’m definitely going to watch a couple of weeks of college basketball. I’ll probably announce somewhere in the middle of the early and late periods.” Rippey’s final official visit will be on November 7th at NC State.
As Rippey’s recruitment winds down, he plans to take his visits and then weigh his options. The Wildcats have been heavily involved in his recruitment, and probably will have a good chance to land the Blair Academy guard.
