When legendary announcer Jim Ross has been in the news lately, it’s unfortunately either to deny D-Von Dudley’s accusations of past racist behavior, or because of his health. His latest update last night
(Jan. 19) is about the latter.
When the show was in his home state of Oklahoma on Jan. 7, Ross returned to Dynamite and his current gig calling big matches for AEW. He was apparently scheduled to travel to Orlando, Florida for this Wednesday’s show, but JR posted on social media that he won’t be able to due to a fall. The 74-year-old was stranded there for a while, but did manage to watch last night’s excellent national championship college football game:
Ross had what he described as “a bad fall” before All In Texas last summer. He did work the show, which was his return after an extended layoff for successful cancer treatment. But until a couple weeks ago, he’d only worked one show (August’s Forbidden Door) since July 2024.
