How Nick Bosa’s untimely injury presents 49ers with a familiar next-man-up plan “The 49ers are going to need that kind of production on a consistent basis. But the responsibility will not fall on Huff
alone. They also must demand elevated play from some others among their defensive-line rotation.
San Francisco loves the development it has seen from the rookies, Williams, Alfred Collins and CJ West. Rushing the quarterback might not be what they do best, but they will have to chip in, just as they did on a near-safety of Murray on Sunday at Levi’s Stadium.
Sam Okuayinonu and Yetur Gross-Matos are going to have to turn it up and make the most of their playing time, along with Jordan Elliott and Kalia Davis.“
49ers Week 3 rookie report: Mykel Williams takes his game up another notch (paywall)
“nd if not for nickel back Upton Stout, the Cardinals could have run out the clock to hand the 49ers their first loss of the the 2025 season.
Williams was asked about the rookie group chat after the game: “Yeah, yeah, yeah, we gonna talk about stuff. We might pop out, go somewhere … get some dinner or something.”
Kawakami: Trey Hendrickson would be an ideal 49ers target — here’s a realistic trade offer (paywall)
“• 2026 first- and third-round picks and a 2027 second-rounder if Hendrickson plays 60% or more of the 49ers’ remaining defensive snaps this season and the 49ers get to the playoffs and he re-signs with the 49ers.
(Remember, if all this happens, the 49ers would have had a very good season, and they’d have both Hendrickson and Bosa ready to go for 2026. Not bad. To me, that’d easily be worth surrendering those picks.)
• Which would be lowered to just a first-rounder if Hendrickson plays 60%-plus of the snaps and the 49ers get to the playoffs but Hendrickson doesn’t re-sign with the 49ers.
(A first-round pick for getting to the playoffs but not keeping Hendrickson? Not ideal, but not devastating for the 49ers, knowing they took their best shot this season and would have Bosa coming back.)
• Which would be lowered again to just a second-rounder if Hendrickson doesn’t play 60% of the snaps or the 49ers fail to make the playoffs andHendrickson doesn’t re-sign.
49ers vs. Cardinals PFF grades: Best and worst from the game, plus snap counts
“Left tackle Trent Williams was the 49ers’ highest-graded offensive lineman for the second straight week, finishing with a 78.5 offensive grade. He also posted a game-high 83.9 run-blocking grade and a team-high 69.8 pass-blocking grade.
Tight end Luke Farrell earned the 49ers’ best pass-blocking grade at 75.6.
Second-year right guard Dominick Puni and rookie left guard Connor Colby—making his first NFL start—earned the lowest grades on the offensive line (45.4 for Puni, 46.6 for Colby). Colby allowed a team-high five pressures.“
Kyle Shanahan provides 49ers injury updates after Week 3 win vs. Cardinals
“San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan spoke with reporters during a conference call on Monday, the day after the team’s 16-15 win over the Arizona Cardinals. Here’s everything he said.”
Kyle Shanahan shares Nick Bosa’s emotions after second ACL injury of NFL career
““I talked to Nick last night. You know, it wasn’t confirmed until this morning,” Shanahan told reporters. “I haven’t been able to see him yet today, but talked to him last night; he had a pretty good idea of what we were going to find out today. But obviously he is bummed out and down, but Nick can handle anything and he is going to handle it like he always does, which will be great.
“But obviously he was bummed out from it not being able to finish out this year, and especially how good of a year he was having so far. And Yetur [Gross-Matos] has been out there the last three weeks, so hopefully as he keeps going and doesn’t have any setbacks, hopefully he can continue to progress with that and handle more reps. But, we’ve got to see how that goes.”
