Jake Haener, a former New Orleans Saints quarterback, has been signed by the New York Giants, per NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo. Haener, a former fourth-round pick, played collegiately at the University of Washington and Fresno State before being drafted 127th overall by the Saints in 2023.
The
quarterback ultimately appeared in just eight games for the black and gold in the 2024 season. Haener completed 18 of 39 pass attempts for 226 yards. He also managed one touchdown and one interception while being sacked six times.
Last year, Haener lost out on an opportunity to be the Saints’ starting QB or the backup as a training camp battle between Spencer Rattler and rookie Tyler Shough unfolded. Limited roster spots led to Haener’s release prior to the new regular season beginning.
After New Orleans, Haener made a stop in Kansas City with the Chiefs where he served as a reserve/backup QB behind Patrick Mahomes. Now, the California native will be heading to the Giants who he worked out for last month.
