UFC CEO Dana White is one of the most influential people in sports, according to TIME, the once-popular news magazine that continues to hemorrhage subscribers both in print and online. That’s not exclusive to TIME, as many old school publications like LIFE and Sports illustrated also collapsed during the dawn of the digital age.
White is responsible for all things UFC, for better or worse, which includes a $7.7 billion broadcast deal with Paramount and a live event on the South Lawn of the White House.
More impressive is that White was able to close both deals after this awful incident, which probably would have sank any other executive in sports.
Also making the TIME 100 list from the world of combat sports were boxing champions and pound-for-pound greats Oleksandr Usyk and Amanda Serrano. Not surprisingly, MVP c0-founder Jake Paul is taking credit for getting Serrano mainstream attention after spending several years in relative obscurity.
Usyk is definitely influential.
He even influenced the judges to give him an undeserved decision against Rico Verhoeven last month in Egypt.
