Portland Trail Blazers star Deni Avdija is questionable to play in Wednesday’s regular-season opener against the Phoenix Suns at the Moda Center, according to the team’s latest injury report released on NBA.com.
It’s unclear how long Avdija has been dealing with the ankle soreness, but there had been no indication the 6-foot-8 forward was dealing with an ankle issue during the preseason slate, and it wasn’t mentioned during media availability with Blazers head coach Micah Nori this afternoon.
Elsewhere
on the injury report, Blazers reserve big man Branden Carlson will be out for the matchup against the Suns due to the concussion protocol. Carlson injured his head during the preseason finale against the Golden State Warriors on Friday and had to leave that game early.
Blazers big man Micah Potter is questionable to play on Wednesday due to an illness, meaning the Portland front court could be very short on depth in the opener.
Additionally, Blazers two-way contract guard Chris Youngblood will be out against Phoenix due to left ankle soreness.
The Blazers are scheduled to tip off against the Suns on Wednesday at 7 p.m. PDT.
