Thursday proved to be another news-filled day on the recruiting trail for Ohio State.
Whether it be for new offers or top schools lists, the Buckeyes are keeping busy this offseason with the goal of adding
elite talent and depth to their future rosters.
Buckeyes dish out offer to a new name at RB
Nine commits in the fold for Ohio State’s 2027 class thus far, there’s a few positions that still need to be addressed, and one of those is at running back.
A cycle that could see two players at the spot brought in, Carlos Locklyn has already offered serval names. On Thursday the latest one popped when the Buckeyes dished out an offer to Louisiana native, Trey Martin.
Taking to his social media to share the recent update, Ohio State joins 20-plus other schools to be in the mix including the likes of Alabama, Florida State, LSU, Ole Miss, Tennessee, and more. A 5-foot-10, 185 pound athlete, Martin is the No. 443 player nationally and 34th best running back per the 247Sports Composite.
Plenty to like about his game, Ohio State clearly saw enough to send out the good news his way. From here, with how many players at the position the Buckeyes have offered, Ohio State is bound to see their name on the short list for multiple players, and starting the courtship with Martin can help their cause with him specifically.
Four-star 2027 OL keeps OSU in his top schools
Another day and another top schools list, Ohio State once again saw their name make the cut for a top 2027 recruiting target.
Thursday’s announcement for Pennsylvania native Jimmy Kalis included a finalist list of six remaining programs he’s considering, and the Buckeyes were joined by the likes of Clemson, Georgia, LSU, Miami, and Texas.
From the jump, seeing Ohio State as the closest regional program to his home town certainly doesn’t hurt, and not having Penn State among the top schools isn’t a bad aspect either.
A 6-foot-6, 280 pound offensive tackle, Kalis is the No. 247 player nationally and 24th best at his position per the 247Sports Composite. Nearly 50 offers to his name, getting down to just six is a major step towards a commitment.
For Ohio State, staying in the mix for this many top players bodes well for the class they are wanting to put together. Plenty of work still to be done, Tyler Bowen has three commitments for his unit already locked up and looks poised for more.
Quick Hits
Sure to be a busy spring with recruiting visits, Ohio State learned on Thursday they will play host on April 4 to quarterback Wonderful Monds IV.
