Brazil were left frustrated in Lille as they labored to a 1-1 draw against a lively Tunisia side, wasting a host of chances and missing a late opportunity to snatch victory. Tunisia stunned the Selecao
in the 23rd minute when Hazem Mastouri finished a rapid counter-attack with a precise low strike past Bento. Before that, Rodrygo had seen an early effort cleared off the line by Montassar Talbi, setting the tone for Brazil’s wastefulness.
Brazil eventually equalized just before halftime. After a handball by Dylan Bronn, Estevão converted the resulting penalty with confidence, driving his shot high to Aymen Dahmen’s right. The momentum could have shifted, but Elias Saad came close to restoring Tunisia’s lead with a fizzing effort that shaved the post.
The second half brought more frustration for Carlo Ancelotti’s side. Despite pressure from Casemiro, Vinícius Júnior, and Rodrygo, Brazil lacked precision in front of the goal. Their best chance came in the 78th minute, but Lucas Paquetá skied his penalty after Ferjani Sassi fouled Vitor Roque. Another penalty appeal was denied late on, and Estevão hit the post in stoppage time.
Brazil produced 21 shots worth 2.57 xG, yet hit the target only three times. Rodrygo led the team with six attempts, while Vinícius managed five without forcing a single save. Vinicius played the full 90 minutes, Rodrygo was taken off by Ancelotti on the 79th minute. Real Madrid center-back Éder Militão came off injured at the hour mark due to what seemed like a groin issue. The extent of the injury is unknown at the time of writing.
