TCU football is moving closer to its 2026 season opener against North Carolina in Dublin, Ireland on Aug. 29. As the Countdown to Kickoff continues, we’ll highlight a former Horned Frog whose jersey number coincided with the number of days remaining until the opener. At No. 4 is former TCU quarterback Casey Pachall!
Pachall played in 28 games in his career with the Horned Frogs. He threw for 4,467 yards and 32 touchdowns with 17 interceptions and completed 62% of his passes. His best season came in 2011,
when he threw for a career-high 2,921 yards and 25 touchdowns with just seven interceptions and converted 67% of his passes. Leading TCU in its final season in the Mountain West, Pachall guided the team to an 11-2 record and a Poinsettia Bowl win.
In 2012, Pachall was suspended for the season after being arrested on a DUI. He then left the program to enter a treatment program and returned to quarterback the Horned Frogs in 2013, but an injury sidelined him for most of the 2013 season. Splitting time with Trevone Boykin, Pachall threw for 1,468 yards, 10 touchdowns and six interceptions and completed just 56% of his passes. TCU finished 4-8 and did not qualify for a bowl game.
Undrafted in 2014, Pachall spent time with the Toronto Argonauts and the Calgary Stampede in the Canadian Football League. His brief professional career included stints with the Blacktips (2014) and Hudson Valley Fort (2015) of the Fall Experimental Football League (FXFL). He participated in the Spring League Showcase in 2017.
