All of the speculation right now that is swirling around the Nick Castellanos situation is interesting. While clearly the team needs to move from him on the field, it’s in the locker room that I am most
interested in. Reports showed up this week that the team was “disgusted” with Castellanos’ actions towards Rob Thomson earlier in the year and my question is: why are we just finding out about that? Sure, Thomson likes to keep things quiet and in house, but I’m more surprised that someone else didn’t crack with the news that the team was unhappy with him.
Maybe they just knew it would have been a big issue in the middle of a division title run.
On to the links.
Phillies news:
- Baseball Prospectus has been doing a series where they go over each team’s season once it ends. The Phillies had their turn this weekend ($).
- Shohei Ohtani may have been great this weekend, but folks – he’s no Rick Wise, I can tell you that much for real ($).
MLB news:
- Jesus Montero, once one of the Yankees’ top prospects that was traded to Seattle, passed away yesterday in his native Venezuela.
- Hey! The Dodgers are probably going to be going after one of the top free agents on the market in Kyle Tucker. Sounds awesome!
- If the Tigers (foolishly) decide that trading Tarik Skubal is their best path forward, expect the Mets to be at the front of the line ($).
